Maui College

Whilst most fashion design institutions focus on the marketing, merchandising or planning of fashion in their courses, Maui College is a little bit different. This school offers just a single fashion related course: Fashion Technology.

With a degree in fashion technology, which falls under the science faculty, participants are able to gain hands on skill sets in one particular area, without studying a broad range of topics. Additionally, under the fashion design segment (which comprises a majority of the course) - you'll take a look at:

• Fashion planning.
• Materials and textiles.
• Modern, historic, and specialty designs.
• Current and past trends in fashion design.

Of course, the fashion design segment from Maui College also focuses on practical and hands-on techniques which can assist in execution of designs. You'll also gain a better understanding of the modern day processes which go in to designing exquisite and simple garments, from dresses to gowns, to casual wear.

Given that Maui College is one of the only fashion design institutions offering full design degrees in Hawaii, the college has sought to connect with local businesses and industry experts.
