Fashion Degrees at Buffalo State University

To address the two required traits needed for success in the fashion industry, Buffalo State University has created a unique, high standard course which focuses on preparing students in a variety of areas. Firstly, students learn the basics of the fashion world, including:

• Basic fashion making.
• Fashion planning and execution.
• Fashion merchandising and stocking.

The first year of the program will contain compulsory courses which students are forced to pass. The reasoning behind this is that if a student doesn't manage to get the groundwork right, it will be exponentially more difficult for them to excel in specialist areas.

Learning at the University

Because Buffalo State University is the only educational facility in the West side of New York to offer specialised bachelorette degrees in fashion - the learning environment is immediately different.

For example, the university has made the following rules under which yearly admission must comply:

• Class sizes must be kept small.
• Electronic learning must be a large part of the course delivery.
• Students must be given every opportunity possible to excel and develop their skills.

Throughout the course (fashion design in particular), students can expect extra tuition in the following areas: CAD design, fashion management, product development, technical fashion design, and so on. Specialist tutors are employed throughout the year as courses move from subject to subject. This gives students the best possible opportunity to learn with an unimpeded road to success.

Following the courses - and upon graduation, a specialist career services branch helps students to find employment in their desired fashion area.
